De animatiefilm My Love Affair With Marriage is vooral een Letse productie, in samenwerking met bedrijven uit de V.S. en Luxemburg. Deze muzikale animatiefilm is geregisseerd door de Letse Signe Baumane, die ook het verhaal en scenario schreef, de teksten voor de songs, meewerkte bij het realiseren van de animaties en bij de productie. Kortom, het is háár film, waarin ze haar verhaal wilde vertellen, over het opgroeien van meisje tot vrouw en hoe cultuur bepaalt hoe vrouwen in het leven moeten staan, terwijl ze zelf misschien een heel ander leven wensen.
